Garden State (2004)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic
Directed: Zach Braff
Staring: Zach Braff, Natalie Portman

Synopsis: THe movie is about Andrew Largeman (Braff), who lives in Hollywood and works at a Viet Namies food restaurant but has stared on some television shows, but nothing that big. He finds out his mother has died, and must go back to his old home, in New Jersey. When he gets home, he meets up with his old friends, and even meets a new one, named Sam (Portman), and ends up falling for her. Throughout the whole movie, he struggles with his dead relationship with his father.

My Take: This is one of my favorite movies of all time. It's great for anyone who loves those weird movies that can make you laugh, but also make you think about the bigger picture that's trying to be portrayed. Portman's character is really loveable, and you really find yourself wanting to get to know her. The tension between Andrew and his father is very intense. You can see throughout the movie they want to just scream and get what they want off their chests. probably one of my favorite scenes ever is when you find out why Andrew left his home and never came back. the entire cast is just so believeable. plus the soundtrack is just fabulous. i really urge you to watch this movie. i'm sure you'll like it.

Rating: 3.5 out of 4
