Juno (2007)

Image and video hosting by TinyPic

Director: Jason Reitman
Staring: Ellen Page, Michael Cera, Jennifer Garner, Jason Bateman

Synopsis: The movie is about Ja sarcastic, witty girl named Juno (Page) who finds herself getting pregnant on accident by her close friend Paulie Bleeker (Cera). Early on, she wants to get an abortion, but instead, opts for keeping the baby and just giving it up for adoption. She finds a couple (Garner and Bateman) in a PennySaver who are looking to adopt her baby once Juno has given birth to it. Throughout the movie, you see the sharp-tongued teen deal with problems every teenager deals with, but also with issues far beyond her comfort level, whether it be with Bleeker, her step-mother, and even the soon-to-be adoptees. The movie at one point does level it's humorous area, for a more darker stage, but still stays in it's PG-13 rating.

My Take: If you're expecting this to be like 'Knocked Up' but with teens instead of fat, red-headed Jewish guys getting attractive women pregnant, you will be surprised. Although it's not as laugh-out-loud funny as 'Knocked Up', you will still find yourself laughing at the akward timing of Cera, and the sarcastic remarks at very opotune times by Page. The movie is great for teens as it deals with the struggles of young love and the confusion that comes with it. Cera delivers once again as he did in 'Superbad,' as he finds himself being the sweet, innocent guy that audiences have come to love over the past year. The movie has a very strong soundtrack as well, which I've always thought is great for a movie to have.

My rating: 3 out of 4
